For over 10 years Contemporary Research has manufactured the most reliable HDTV Tuner in the AV Industry. The most recent version of the tuner, the 232-ATSC 4K offers video output scaling up to 4K, the ability to decode channels up to 1080p, and the option for IP streaming via Ethernet output. Now, with firmware version 2.14, users will have the ability to access new front panel control functions previously only available through the use of the HD2-RC IR remote control.

In addition to IP Telnet control, the 232-ATSC 4K, 232-ATSC 4, 232-ATSC+1, ATSC-SDI and ATSC-SDI 4 HDTV tuners offer bi-directional UDP control.
Latency is the delay between the video source and the time it takes to appear on the TV or screen. For live presentations from an on-site video switcher, the delay is usually due to scaling and rescaling the video, as well as processing delays in switching and effects.
For years, integrators have controlled up to 9 232-ATSC series tuners from one RS-232 using a "daisy-chain" RS-232 cable. It's an effective solution, but the cable can be complex to wire - and if one tuner must be removed, the chain is broken.
In a perfect video world, scaling is not required. For example, broadcast-quality video has exactly the right resolution, correct number of lines, and a refresh rate of precisely 59.94 or 29.97 Hz.
When you don’t have an Ethernet connection - which is often the case in a new installation - you can view the QMOD Web pages through the front USB port.
If you use Windows 10 or 8 to copy the S37 file to the 232-ATSC 4, ATSC-SDI 4, 232-ATSC+1 and ATSC+SDI tuners, you may get what appears to be a false error message, such as File Tool Large or No Destination.
Whether you need help determining RF calculations, product specifications, or remote commissioning, CR is here to help.
When an HD tuner scans the channels, it looks at each channel it finds, extracting the data file that provides the channel name an its virtual channel ID, and other information.
HD Modulators often cannot distribute video from HDCP-protected sources using open-access QAM encoding. However, there are many HDMI sources that can be sent over RF and IP
From time to time, our CR Support staff hears that our QMOD Update app will not update their QMOD or QIP encoder over USB and/or Ethernet.
